Aberaeron is located along the Ceredigion coast and is a seaside holiday resort which grew from being a small fishing village into a thriving town with the advent of the harbour in 1807. A stay in or close to Aberaeron could be a great choice for those looking to take a luxury cottage break by the coast in Wales.
Nowadays Aberaeron is perhaps best known for being the venue of the annual Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival. Remember to sample the town's specialities whilst on a break here. Seafood and honey ice cream are on offer at the Hive Restaurant, which is house in a building which has a wonderful setting right by the water’s edge. Live entertainment is also on offer from time to time at this lovely restaurant.
History buffs will want to discover some of the town’s historical buildings on a luxury holiday including St David's Church that marks the spot where St David was born, Places of interest include Pier Cottage which was built prior to 1800, Dalhalog Cottages which are amongst some of the oldest dwellings in the area, Aberaeron Poor House designed by George Wilkinson which dates back to around 1838 and the Weighting House where lime was weighed until 1900.
Worth a visit whilst in this part of Wales is Llanerchaeron, a well preserved National Trust managed, 18th century Welsh estate, with its John Nash designed villa. Whilst here, you can stock up on some organic produce to take back to your holiday home.
