Darley Dale 

The civil parish of Darley Dale in Derbyshire could be the ideal location for a tranquil rural retreat with the family. Set near the edge of the River Derwent, the village is hidden gem. There is plenty to see and do in this charming town and the surrounding areas: spend some time in the nearby town of Bakewell, visit the village historic church, or explore the nearby Derwent Valley. The area is also known for its great walking routes so you and your partner or you and your family can enjoy a stroll through this peaceful setting.   • The largest urban glass house throughout Europe, Sheffield’s Winter Garden is a must. This fascinating, and award winning, place is full of stunning variety of exotic plants from all over.
  • Takeoff and reach for the sky with the excellent Heights of Abraham cable car lift in Matlock. Alternatively, trained hikers can attempt to conquer this natural wonder. However you get to the top, the views that await you mean that this is a must. 
Things to Do

  • Visit Bakewell town and try out the original Bakewell Pudding. Three shops claim to have the original recipe so you’ll have to try all three to be sure!
  • Enjoy a walk through one of the many available routes in the area. The Derwent Valley Heritage Trail goes through the area and another popular route can be found at the Darley Moor in the Forestry Commission plantations. 
  • Indulge in some retail therapy in Sheffield. The city of Sheffield can be reached by car in less than one hour and is a great way to enjoy a contrasting day to the more tranquil setting of the Peak District. The city is full of buzz and excitement and is also home to a great range of shops and eateries. 
Darley Dale is an excellent base from which to explore and enjoy the surrounding areas of Derbyshire, Sheffield and the Peak District.
