Tiverton
Set in between the county hills of Dartmoor and Exmoor and along the banks of the River Exe, the market town of Tiverton in Mid Devon is a fantastic base from which to explore Devon and the South West of England. The town was an ancient settlement which has a rich history and is also close to a number of charming towns and villages such as Loxebeare, Bampton and Washfield. Places to visit
- Kents Cavern is a stunning natural cave located on the coast of Devon is a must. This unique attraction is sure to leave a last impression and is also just a short distance from the beach and the South West Coast Path.
- If you feel brave enough, you and your family can venture in to the remains of Tiverton castle, which is believed to be haunted by a ghost! Tiverton Castle’s hall, tower, chapel and gateway are all believed to be haunted. If the mystery surrounding this place isn’t enough for you (or enough to put you off), guests are offered the chance to learn about the castle’s history, admire the architecture and can even try on some English Civil War armour. The castle grounds boast a stunning garden.
- The wonderful National Marine Aquarium is a fantastic way through which you and your family can learn about and better appreciate this planets wonderful sea life. The aquarium remains one of Britain’s absolute best in terms of research and spectacle.
- The award winning Woodlands Leisure Park is set on 90 acres of land and is great for fun for all the family. Enjoy the rich wildlife that the sites zoo-farm has to offer. For thrills, the park also boasts 3 great watercoasters, and the indoor Fun Factories also house many all-weather attractions and rides.
- The excellent Living Coasts coastal zoo is part of a wildlife conservation trust and is full of fantastic seabirds and other coastal wildlife.
