The South Downs is one of England’s youngest National Parks. This area of gently swelling hills and cliff tops walks has long been a favourite walking destination on the south coast of England. With stunning natural scenery, the South Downs could be an excellent choice for a luxury cottage holiday. Walk through splendid countryside and see the most marvellous sea views, tall white chalk cliffs with sand and pebble beaches far below.
The South Downs National Park stretches from Winchester eastwards to Beachy Head near the seaside resort of Eastbourne. Fascinating towns to visit in and around are Petersfield for antique shops and the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Midhurst, Lewes (of Bonfire Parades fame) and Winchester for the cathedral, King Arthur’s round table and barracks.
