Luxury self catering accommodation in Central Scotland including Edinburgh & Glasgow

Central Scotland is a great choice when deciding on your destination for a luxurious self-catering break in Scotland. The land is rich with culture and heritage, dotted with old and beautiful castles and has 3 fantastically contrasting cities to choose from – Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling.

A Romantic City Break in Edinburgh

Scotland’s capital city Edinburgh is a fantastic place either to enjoy a luxury city stay, or to visit on a day trip when holidaying in the surrounding areas. Edinburgh is well-known for being one of the UK’s most picturesque city, full of narrow streets and fantastic old architecture. Right at the top of the Royal Mile, sitting proudly on its own volcanic rock, is the stunning Edinburgh Castle, which it would be ill-advised to miss out on if this is your first visit to Edinburgh. Edinburgh is also host to numerous beautiful spired Cathedrals and churches which are worth a good look around.

Fine Dining

Edinburgh is a fantastic spot for enjoying fine dining. With 5 Michelin-star restaurants to choose from, there really is something for everyone. 21212 in the city centre has a brilliant menu which changes weekly.

Modernist Glasgow: A Cultural Paradise

While Edinburgh is famous for its ancient buildings, the unique city of Glasgow is perhaps more appreciated for its modernist attributes. Home to the world famous architect, designer and artist Rennie Mackintosh, a special city break in Glasgow would be wasted without seeing some of his fantastic buildings, such as the world-famous Glasgow School of Art.

The Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond

Beautiful Loch Lomond, the largest expanse of inland water in the British Isles, is a fantastic place to stay for a luxury escape. Enjoy relaxed walks around the loch or take a boat trip over the waters, and explore the numerous beautiful gardens in this area such as the Balloch Castle Country Park. This romantic loch is a great place to enjoy a holiday for two and would be a wonderful location in which to rent a luxury cottage with a hot tub.

Argyll and Beautiful Bute

Argyll and Bute is a wonderful part of Scotland, and perfect for a rural retreat holiday. The Isle of Bute is easily reached by ferry and is famous for its beautiful gardens. Mount Stuart is a particular highlight; an astounding gothic mansion with 300 acres of spectacular gardens. Bute is also home to 5 lovely sandy beaches from which the views across the islands are absolutely stunning.

Recommended things to see and do in Central Scotland:

•    If you like your malt whiskys, don’t miss the Pot Still in Glasgow, where expert bar staff are on-hand to recommend malts to try and the water taps on the bar allow you to take your whisky exactly to your taste.
•    The Leven Valley Heritage Trail guides you from Balloch to Dumbarton along the Clyde Estuary. Dumbarton Castle is fantastic – explore the battlements and take in scenic views across the Firth of Clyde.
•    Golf lovers can’t miss the fantastic courses at St. Andrews in the Kingdom of Fife.

If you’re considering taking a luxury break in Central Scotland, why not think about organising a large party and staying in a magnificent country house and estate?
