Midlothian is located to the south of Edinburgh, Scotland’s intriguing capital city.  Home to the Pentland Hills Regional Park, a stay in Midlothian may best suit those looking to take a luxury break in a country setting yet with relatively easy access to the stunning city of Edinburgh.

The Pentland Hills cover around 20 miles of countryside and farmlands.  With their abundant natural beauty, these hills are a great place for walking or hiking.  There are also ample opportunities to golf or fish in Midlothian.  The more adventurous may want to head for the Midlothian Snowsports Centre where you can enjoy skiing all year round.  For a really fabulous experience why not take a hot air balloon flight and get a bird’s eye appreciation of the Midlothian landscape?

Although Midlothian does have a number of castles, a number of these have become special wedding venues and are not open for visitors.  Crichton Castle though is open to the public and is an interesting place to visit.  Parts of this castle date back to the 1400s.

Whatever you choose to do on a luxury cottage break, we hope you get the best out of your visit and that you decide to return to ‘bonny Scotland’ time and time again.
